Recently, on Tuesday, February 12, Twin Springs Elementary School third, fourth, and fifth grade students participated in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The students were given words to spell from materials prepared by the Scripps National Spelling Bee program. Students displayed knowledge learned throughout their school experience while competing for top honors. Joshua McCormick, a fifth grader, claimed first place and Cormani Burton, a fifth grader, was the second place winner. The following students also earned their way into the final round of the school spelling bee: Kayleigh Mazza, Brodie Buchanan, Sam Payne, Logan Pavlovic, Aaron Fuller, Ella McAdams, Aubrey Turner, Erin Bowles, Colin Toler, Warrick Scott, Jr., Evan Myers, Chelsea Young, Jackson Ore, Jacob Davis, and Leah Blackwell. Joshua and Cormani will participate in the Danville Area Spelling Bee, which will be held at Averett University on Saturday, March 16, 2019.
